  37. Video 1.1e for Windows retains all the improvements that were included
  38. in version 1.1d of Video for Windows, but does not include the low-level
  39. driver code that was licensed from Intel Corporation.

  41. SPECIFIC FILES UPDATED IN VERSION 1.1E

  44. The following files are changed in version 1.1e:

  54. PREVIOUS IMPROVEMENTS TO VIDEO FOR WINDOWS
  55. ------------------------------------------

  57.  - Improved palette support. The new version of MSVIDEO.DLL and the
  58.    Cinepak and Indeo codecs prevent Video for Windows from having to
  59.    dither 24-bit videos twice during playback.
  60.  
  61.  - Display Control Interface (DCI) support. DCI allows Video for
  62.    Windows to provide faster and smoother playback on video adapters
  63.    that use the S3, Cirrus Logic, or any one of several other chip
  64.    sets. Video for Windows now supports all DCI-enabled video
  65.    adapters. The performance of stretched and clipped videos is also
  66.    much improved for all video adapters.

  68.  - Better overall performance.
  69.  
  70.  - Improved simultaneous playback of two .AVI files.

  72.  - Improved playback of loosely interleaved or noninterleaved files
  73.    with NetWare(R) Video.

  75.  - Improved performance of video playback, correcting a problem that
  76.    caused shaky playback.

  78.  - The compression algorithm was changed to meet the official
  79.    Interactive Multimedia Association adaptive-differential-pulse-code-
  80.    modulation (ADPCM) format specification fully.

  82.  - A general protection (GP) fault problem was corrected. This problem
  83.    occurred when you clicked embedded Video 1.1 for Windows media
  84.    objects in OLE 2.0 clients.

  86.  - A slight memory leak that occurred with embedded objects was
  87.    corrected.

  89. INSTALLING VIDEO 1.1E FOR WINDOWS RUN-TIME EDITION

  92. 1. If you received a disk with this Application Note, insert the disk
  93.    in the appropriate floppy disk drive.
  94.  
  95.    If you downloaded this Application Note from an online service,
  96.    skip to step 2. This procedure assumes that you have already
  97.    downloaded and extracted the compressed file.

  99. 2. From the Program Manager File menu, choose Run. In the Command Line
  100.    box, type the following line and then press ENTER
  101.  
  102.       <source>:\setup
  103.  
  104.    where <source> is either the letter of your floppy disk drive or
  105.    the directory containing the file you downloaded from online
  106.    services. For example, if you are installing from a floppy disk
  107.    that you inserted in drive A:

  109.       a:\setup

  111.    Or, for example, if you downloaded the WV1160.EXE file from online
  112.    services to C:\DOWNLOAD:

  116. 3. Follow the instructions in the Setup program to finish installing
  117.    Video 1.1e for Windows.
